If you’re already a big vanilla fan, then you’re not alone.

Vanilla is one of the most popular spices and flavours globally. It’s used as a base flavour for many different desserts because its flavour is subtle yet versatile. Vanilla is a spice derived from orchids that originally came from Mexico. For centuries, it was the exclusive secret of the native Totonac Indians, who were later conquered by the Aztecs.

However, this isn’t a history lesson. At Infinite International, we source our vanilla from Uganda and offer it as certified organic and conventional whole bean, coarse cut, specialty cuts and powder. Its aroma is earthy with notes of milk chocolate and bold flavours due to the high levels of vanillin. Ugandan vanilla beans are similar in flavour with Madagascan beans, but are naturally sweeter. Ugandan vanilla is perfect for making decadent desserts, including ice cream, cookies and drinks.

What sets Ugandan vanilla beans apart?

Bourbon style vanilla pods from Uganda are very different to other beans, specifically Madagascar vanilla beans. When ripened and cured, vanilla is similar to wines from the same grape produced in different parts of the world. Every region and country predisposes vanilla beans to specific characteristics that distinguishes one from the other.

Unlike most other vanilla growing countries and regions in the world, Ugandan farmers have two growing seasons to grow vanilla beans and are the only country that can harvest vanilla twice annually. As a result, Ugandan farmers and communities can stay busy year-round with growing, harvesting, curing, and preparing pure vanilla for export.
